About this award This photo was taken in Mishor, Crimea, Russia, with a Canon 5 D Mark 3 camera. It was an extraordinary meeting with the mantis. I was on vacation at the sea and one day, when I was going to the sea, I saw a mantis in a car. I decided to remove it from the car and transplant it to flowers. He bit me, the mantis is a strong and huge insect. But I managed to persuade him to a photo shoot, gave him a fly, the mantis ate it and gave himself up. I moved it to the flowers and began to take pictures. The mantis did not mind being photographed on marigolds, roses, and so on....Time
The time for shooting was not very good, around 11 o'clock in the morning, when the sun was bright. But I dreamed of meeting mantises, and they did not come across at all. And then, such a meeting and you don't think about the bright sun at all, but just take pictures and rejoice!Lighting
All macro photographers try to photograph models when it's dawn or sunset and the sun is soft, the insects are either still asleep or tired from their labors. It was different here. The mantis was active, it was sunny, the mantis fought and bit, but gave up and served as an excellent model, for which I thank him very much! It was a pleasure to photograph him and he received rewards for the photo session. A lot of people gathered when the mantis photo shoot was going on. There was a lot of excitement and the most pleasant impressions!!!Equipment

My love for macro photography and nature always inspires me.Editing
Yes, the processing was done in Photoshop, a little contrast was added, a little saturation and sharpness. In my camera bag
Two cameras: Canon 5d III and an old friend: Canon 450D and lenses for them.Feedback
In macro photography, you always need to have patience, radiate such energy so that insects can be calm and feel that nothing threatens them, as in my photo, for example: https://www.viewbug.com/photo/92816862 All the butterflies sat on their own moth fingers. Sometimes, when I see this or that insect that I want to photograph, I approach them very slowly, haste is not appropriate here. I offer my hand to some and some dragonflies or butterflies move from grass blades or flowers to it. This is love, and everyone feels it, even butterflies, dragonflies and mantises. And yet, I breathe very gently when working with insects and do everything very smoothly.
