Foto of the painted gesso relievo "Mutter und Kind" (~ Mother and child) by Arnold Böcklin. The classic religious topos of Mary holding the newborn Jesus becomes an iconic simbolisation of motherly love in this artwork. Through cutting and editing the image I ried to enhance the intimate feel of this depiction of a woman holding her child and softly kissing it on the cheak.
