Location
This photo was taken in East Dennis, (Cape Cod), Massachusetts. The mother and her three playful kits were a joy to watch and photographed over several days.Time
I stopped by different times of the day, but this image was around 11:30 amLighting
The early afternoon lighting was especially warm and flattering to this gorgeous “Mother Fox” and her kit.Equipment
I shoot Canon and used my EOS R5 body and my Canon 500 mm lens at 6.3 with a tripod. The affection these wild animals show to each other is very endearing.Inspiration
I love wildlife photography and the fox is such a quiet, subject, but to find her with her family was such a once in a lifetime opportunity. She was very protective, yet gracious with me photographing her and her kits. I gave her plenty of space and she gave me an opened window into her world.Editing
Yes, I do post-process, but just enough to enhance, not alter. This image was already lovely, but I cropped in and brightened things up a little. In my camera bag
Always extra batteries and tripod adaptors. I always carry plenty of lens cleaning cloths, extra lenses and extra camera bodies.Feedback
Patience, patience, and more patience. Wildlife has no schedule, but are the most spontaneous and rewarding subjects you will ever look at through the lens! The eyes looking back at you is something you never forget !
