The butterfass is a formation in the Waldnaab formed by a rock slide that happened long before I ever thought of taking this photo. To me it is the highlight of the hike that day and a testament to how changes in nature can create beautiful landscapes. This is an unreleased photo of my first trip to the Waldnaabtal in the spring of 2019 and the only surviving shot from that trip thanks to uploading it to Google Drive to share with someone. I loved this image as soon as I shot it but kept sitting on it just in case I could get a better shot. I envisioned a version with autumn colors, but as you can see in my photo High Water it doesn't always work out the way you want it.
