St. Ivan Rilski ”, also called the Submerged Church, is a church in the village of Zapalna which was submerged in 1965 during the construction of the Zhrebchevo dam. The church is the only remnant of the village. The church was named after the Bulgarian saint Ivan Rilski.

In the early spring of 1965 it was half submerged, and by the end of the summer it was almost entirely underwater. On a hill, near the remains of the church, is an abandoned cemetery. Before him, facing the dam "Zhrebchevo" is a memorial plaque for the submerged village of Zapalna.
The text reads: "Village of Zapalnya, inhabited in the 15th century, evicted in 1962."
