Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Civic park downtown Phoenix AZ. This object is a piece of art by Janet Echelman, She has done many pieces like this around the world. This particular installation is named "Her Secret is Patience" I've always wanted to photograph this piece. I am just getting into photography, so there a probably a few details I would change\correct. Otherwise, I am pretty happy with the photo. Thanks for the positive feedback,

Time

This was taken just after sunset.

Lighting

I really wanted the image to pop. I slowed down the shutter speed a bit to capture some of the movement from the wind in the netting.

Equipment

I used a Canon 90d with the kit lens (18-135mm) mounted on a Tyeka tripod.

Inspiration

I just think it is a cool piece of art work hanging in the middle of an urban park. I like that It is quite jarring when you fist see it, not really something you'd expect to see suspended in mid air above a grassy square. It does change colors through out the seasons.

Editing

No post processing on this one as I did not shoot it in RAW format. I find that trying to adjust jpegs for some reason just does not come out right,

In my camera bag

Other than my Canon90D, I pack my kit lens. (18-135mm) Canon 75-300mm zoom, and a remote trigger from Aodelan.

Feedback

Try anything and everything, definitely want to use a tripod at night. Try different shutter speeds, go as long as 5-10 seconds to see what happens. There are no mistakes, just happy accidents. If you don't like something, just delete it. I lean more from my mistakes than anything else. So I'd say don't worry about perfection. Just get the shot.
