Behind The Lens

Location

Took this from my apartment balcony in Kristiansund, Norway

Time

Had just bought my first telephoto lens and was eager to test it out, but the conditions outside during daytime that day were terrible, so I decided to wait. But suddenly while I was laying in my couch watching TV later that day I peaked outside the window and saw this amazing sunset. So I walked out on my balcony with my camera and tripod and waited for the moon to get in the right position and I ended up with this shot. This was during the wintertime in Norway, so it was actually shot pretty early in the evening

Lighting

Not really. Nature did it all for me this time, haha.

Equipment

The camera I had that time was a Sony NEX-6 and I shot it with a Sony 55-210mm lens. I have since upgraded to a full frame system, but I have learned that you can take good photos with what ever camera you have

Inspiration

I get inspired by other photographers all the time, but it wasn’t anything specific that inspired this photo, other than the amazing view that evening

Editing

I enhanced the colors, added some clarity to the sky and decreased the blacks to darken the mountain to make a silhouette

In my camera bag

- Sony A7ii camera - Samyang AF 18mm 2.8 - Sony 50mm 1.8 - Sony 55-210mm A Manfrotto tripod and a bunch of CPL and ND filters.

Feedback

This happened pretty random and wasn’t really planned, but I guess you just have to be patient and wait for the right opportunities
