Spotted on it's own in a pond that was tucked away in a pine woodland in Scotland. The forest is known for pine martens and there were male and female mallard feathers on the bank next to the pond. The feathers looked like they were a few days old and the duckling looked pretty healthy, so hopefully it was able to survive.

Took some doing but managed to get super close to this very brave red squirrel. This was taken at about 50 cm away with a 105mm nikon micro lens.
