Big Valley in central Pennsylvania has many farms. After photographing the valley for almost 20 years, I still try to find new, creative compositions in these familiar surroundings. In recent months I have looked for farmsteads that would line up well with the rising moon, but also be far enough away from a road that the buildings would not appear too large in relation to the moon. This is one of only a few farmsteads I have found. Because of the extreme contrasts in the scene, this image is a blend of 3 exposures taken over four minutes: 1-8 second for the moon, 2.5 seconds for the sky, and 50 seconds for the ground.
