Doggy was left at the retreat in Bali by some travellers who brought her there and is now looked after by the people running it. She was an extremely friendly and loving dog and was extremely protective of the guests not leaving your side. Whilst she was a very fun loving dog, I could sense sadness in her eyes at times and loved to capture images of her while she seemed deep in thought.

This photo was taken in Mt Batur, Bali during my travels.Time
This photo would have been taken during the evening as the sun was setting. Doggy loved to hang out with the guests of the retreat we were staying at and was a very friendly dog.Lighting
I enjoy using natural light to compose shots. I was taking a lot of photos of Doggy while we were there and noticed the light creating a nice composition from the shade of the hut we were staying in. Fortunately one evening in one of her calmer moments she lay perfectly in the light.Equipment
Shot on my trusty Sony A6000 with , possibly, the kit lens!Inspiration
I was always taking photos of Doggy while we were staying there. Normally she was bounding around and playing but she would often creep off for some alone time. This was taken in one of those quiet moments in one of her favourite spots. I feel like there is some sadness in her eyes that really draws you in.Editing
Convert to B&W and contrast. In my camera bag
For the last 5 years I have been shooting with my first camera, the Sony a6000 which travels with me everywhere. I have been around the world with this camera and it has never let me down. I am a fan of having as little gear as possible with me so I can actually enjoy whatever it is that I am doing. But I will usually have a couple of lenses, at the moment I have a Pergear 25mm which is an inexpensive fully manual lens but I love it. I will also carry a lens more suited to portraits, I have a Helios 44m that I have adapted to my Sony which I highly recommend people trying out and maybe a wider or tele lens depending on what I am doing.Feedback
If you have the desire to buy the latest camera or latest lens then really think if that new gear will get you better photos or not. Rather spend that money on a trip or an experience that you can see something that will inspire you rather than walking around the same old streets with a brand new piece of equipment. I have been fortunate enough to spend the last few years travelling and have had no spare money to spend on new gear but the experiences I have had have given me much better photographs than any amount of gear could have given me. Compositional advice, use the light!
