Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Imperial War Museum - Duxford. This plane is in one of their world war exhibits. Duxford is a brilliant place to experience aviation develop from strength to strength from all parts of history. It is an amazing place for any history enthusiast. Definitely a must have if you love photographing something different.

Time

To be honest I can’t remember the time as I was completely in my element. I would do this every day if I could.

Lighting

Luckily outside it was sunny so it help massively with the added light. I only needed to add a little contrast and darkens a few shadows to help bring out the bright colours

Equipment

For this, I actually didn’t use any thing special. Just my iPhone XR. It took me ages to get the perfect photo without anyone in the back ground as well as being pestered by my wife to keep moving.

Inspiration

I love history and I have a great fascination with world war 1 and 2. This plane only came down not too far away from where I live now and from where my Grandparents grew up. My grandma actually got shot at by one of these while she was on her way to school.

Editing

I did the tiniest bit of editing. I added a little contrast, darkened some shadows abs added a vignette to give it the ‘eye’ capturing look.

In my camera bag

I always have my iPhone at the ready to take photos however I do use an old Canon EOS 100D with a standard 35mm - 55mm but as well as a 50mm portrait lens and a beast of a Sigma 70mm - 300mm. I’ve recently just added a DJI Mavic Mini 2 to my kit.

Feedback

Take your time, wait for people to move and tell your friends or family to leave you alone while you try and take a photo you’ll treasure. Unfortunately, as majority of us weren’t there to experience this when it happened, we can now by taking photos while out experience the world and letting them last forever as memories.
