Our daughter was very close to her grandmother, my mother-in-law. They had a very special bond that no one else had within our family. Kaitlyn, our daughter, went to visit Elsie every single week at the retirement home. The Covid-19 pandemic was exceptionally hard on the two of them because Kaitlyn could not visit Elsie. Sadly, Elsie passed away this past year alone in her room like so many thousands of other have done because of the restrictions of access. The day she passed we could only go in one at a time to pay our respects, which was very emotionally draining for Kaitlyn. As her mother, my heart broke for her. Even though she is a strong, capable adult, she was my "young" child once again but this time I couldn't be there to support her. The two of them will always have that special connection that very few ever are fortunate enough to experience. Kaitlyn thinks of her everyday. The love they had-have transcends one day. In the image, that love shows through for us to remember.
