Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Lane Cove National Park, Sydney, NSW, Australia. It was early morning and the mist hadn’t been burned off, providing the mystical atmosphere.

Time

As mentioned, it was early morning.

Lighting

It was back lit, because the forest drops away to a river just behind the trees and about 20 meters down, creating a ‘chasm’ light.

Equipment

This just an iPhone 7 photo.

Inspiration

I am always looking for this to photograph. I do a bushwalk every week, which is my allotted time for nature photography, though I will seize any opportunity.

Editing

I try to do minimal processing. When I do it is usually a slight increase in saturation and vibrancy. From memory this is what I did in this case.

In my camera bag

Like everyone else I am always carrying my phone. I do use a Canon Rebel which is a very basic digital SLR with a range of lenses from 28mm to 300mm. I have also used a small waterproof Canon while kayaking.

Feedback

My only advice is to get up and into the bush/forest early. I think mist always makes for wonderful photos.
