Maria and I went to the church ruins in Maridalen outside Oslo just before sunset last Sunday. It was really cold and people were skating on the nearby lake. But the sun had some warmth and we survied the shoot until after sunset :)

Location
The photo was taken near the medieval church ruins in Maridalen outside Oslo just before the winter-time sunset.Time
The warm light is from the afternoon, winter-time sunset, which is around 3pm at this latitude.Lighting
The natural light was nice enough and I did not use any my artificial lighting equipment that I otherwise tend to use on locations :-)Equipment
At the time I was using a Canon 1DX mk2 and my favourite portrait lens, the Sigma 105mm f1.4 Art.Inspiration
My friend and great model, Maria, is always inspiring to shoot with, especially in beautiful locations like this one.Editing
Just minor adjustments in Lightroom Classic, and light skin retouching was done to this image. In my camera bag
These days I normally carry two cameras (R5 and 5DSR), with a handful of lenses (11-24 f4, 24-70 f2.8 II, 100-400 II and one or two primes that fits the occasion). A tripod is also normally with me, and some lighting equipment (light stands, Profoto flash heads, and a couple of modifiers), if carrying distances permits it.Feedback
Just get out there with a model friend, some gear you are intimate with, and a find an interesting location (the hardest part, perhaps). Get there when the natural light is at the best (usually some time before/after sunrise/sunset).
