My first big shoot was with a dance studio in a local town. After that we came up with an agreement for me to use the dance studio as my photography space on the weekends, and this was my first real shoot there!Time
There’s only one window in the studio, so we took this around 2pm to really try and take advantage of what sun we had until it set since we had no other lighting or gear!Lighting
We only had one window in the studio but it’s rather large. I didn’t have any OCF or extra lighting set up because it was my first time really using the studio. I suppose it was more for practice than anything, but this is still one of my favorite shots ever!Equipment
This was actually shot in low lighting on an older model Canon T100. Whoever says kit lenses aren’t useful is lying! This was on an EFS 18-55!Inspiration
We wanted to do something fun and creative for Valentine’s Day while also practicing the low light / indoor settings!Editing
I used Lightroom to edit! I started by increasing the shadows, contrast, and black point. Reduced clarity, increased texture, increased vibrance. Then I increased the saturation and really boosted the noise reduction because the lighting was so low the raw file was pretty grainy. Over all was going for a softer, warmer look!In my camera bag
I always have three lenses on me- nifty 50, EFS 18-55, and my EF 75-300. I think these three, at least for a beginner/amateur level photographer, offer a range wide enough to cover macro, portrait, and landscape shots of many types.Feedback
You just have to relax for shots like these, the best advice is just going for a natural, calm shot!
