Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken leaving the cluttered harbour of the Isle of Capri. I was on a Taxi Boat heading out to sea on route back to Positano, Italy and we came along side this fisherman.

Time

Looking around at the vast seas opening up and the geologic formations close to the island, we "seemed" to come up upon him quickly. My camera was close at had but I had to adjust quickly and snapped off a couple shots. The sunlight warmth was to our backs and the time of day was late afternoon.

Lighting

I did not fine tune settings regarding any sort of exposure, as mentioned I had to act quickly to get the shot off. I was however aware the directional sunlight was behind us and not to the side or front. What caught my eye along with the character of the man and the boat, was the white waves and white boat "siding" against thedark waters.

Equipment

Since I was in the boat taxi and travelling in water I decided to leave my NIKON D7100 back at the hotel and brought my Canon Power Shot SC10 IS to be safe.

Inspiration

Just seemed to me that it was very indicative of the way of life of the people living in these surrounding areas. Salt of the earth - grounded and genuine.

Editing

Did some adjustments to pumping up the vibrence and saturation. As well as using the Dodge Tool in Photoshop on the white Areas

In my camera bag

Feedback

Nothing too earth shattering. Just always be alert - continue looking in different directions or for that matter / angles too
