Location
This photo was taken while on a walk at the Mission Island Marsh Conservation area in Thunder Bay, ON, Canada.Time
This photo was taken in the early morning sometime between 8-10 am if I had to guess - this trip was more than 5 years ago so my memory is a little fuzzy.Lighting
The lighting coming through the trees and making its way down the staircase was what caught my attention as I was walking by this staircase. I also liked the contrast between the light and dark parts of the photo that was naturally created by the trees.Equipment
This photo was taken on my Canon PowerShot sx510 HS camera.Inspiration
The short and sweet answer... the lighting. I've also always liked taking photos of staircases from the bottom looking up, especially when they have a curve or unique shape to them. I think it's more visually appealing and interesting.Editing
Not too much editing was done. I did make some small adjustments to the brightness, contrast, and clarity of the photo, and converted it to black and white. The original photo was taken in color, but I felt it looked better in black and white. In my camera bag
At the time, I just had my Canon PowerShot sx510. I have sense added a Canon Rebel T7 (w/ EF-S 18-55mm and EF 75-300mm lenses) and and a Canon PowerShot sx740.Feedback
If you see a scene/shot that immediately grabs your attention, go for it. Even if you think it's an odd angle, or an odd shot, take it. You never know how it will turn out and it got your attention for a reason. I wasn't sure any of the shots I was taking would turn out how I was actually seeing the scene without looking through my camera. But I was pleasantly surprised because this photo came out of it. Side note: Disclaimer: When I took this photo, I had little to no knowledge of what settings to use on my camera. I was just taking photos of the scene because I love the aesthetic of it all. Now that I've taken some photography classes and have a much better understanding of my cameras and how to shoot in different modes/settings, I wish I could go back to this spot and take this photo again. I think this photo is pretty good, but I think it would be even more eye catching if I could take it again with the knowledge I have now.
