Location
This photo was taken at the Outer Reefs of the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, AustraliaTime
This would have been right around Midday, we'd woken early to make ther journey to a different reef. We were really lucky to have the entire reef to ourselves, usualy it would have been full of boats and other tourists but due to COVID it was empty.Lighting
I've always found diving to be best under the midday sun, the natural light it allowes is just beautiful in comparison to having artifical light down there.Equipment
This shot was taken on the Fujifilm XT-2 With the 16mm 1.4 lens all packed away safely in my Salty Surf Housing. I believe i was shooting at about 4 apature.Inspiration
We had spent about 13 Days sailing the whitsundays by this point and turtles are very often quite shy, the excitement i felt when i met the beautiful creture was amazing. I didnt seem to bother him/ her at all and got to swim along side him/her for about 5 minutes before i got a bit too far away from my dive buddies.Editing
I made this particular image black and white so i can really drag that detail out, whilst also mantaining a sharp image. I generally dont like to touch too much in lightroom, most of the time im just trying to properly re-create what i saw on the day. Ill almost never touch or change colours. In my camera bag
As of right now my camera bag consists of the Fujifilm XT-2, with the Fujinon 16mm 1.4, 35mm 2 and the 15-55m 3.5. I shoot alot of film also, I mainly us my Voigtlander Bessa R with the 35mm 2.5 voigtlander color-skopar lens. I will brag a little as im pretty stoked as yesterday I finally recived my first medium format camera. The Beronica ETRS with the 75mm lens and 5 rolls of the beautiful Kodak Portra 400.Feedback
Always get in the water (obciously only if it safe to do so), I've found so often that even in rain, gloomy or even windy conditions the shots will always present themselves to the people that are there, present in the moment.
