Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a fishing district on the island of Florianópolis, where I currently live.

Time

It was around 15pm.

Lighting

As the sun is still a little high at the time of this photo, cause it was the beginning of the photoshoot, I decided to place the model a little into an area of a lot of vegetation, in the shade, but where there was a softer light falling. To better illuminate her face, there was an assistant with me who was with the reflector (always using the silver side)

Equipment

I did this photoshoot with the Canon 80D using the EF 35mm f / 2 IS USM lens.

Inspiration

I was looking for a place with softer light until the sun went down a little and when I saw this little water spout, the idea came to put the model there, touching the water, with her eyes closed, in a moment of connection with nature, where her beauty came to integrate the beauty of nature itself.

Editing

Yes, I adjusted the colors using the Lightroom HSL tool, in addition to the basic adjustments. And I used Photoshop to perfect the model's skin treatment.

In my camera bag

A Canon 80D with this lenses: Canon EF 35mm f2 IS USM / Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art (this one I use mostly for video) / Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM / Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM / Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM. A Lenspen to clean your lenses on the go. A small VIJIM led with variable temperature and intensity. A 2 in1 ND2-ND32 Variable Filter (1 to 5 stops) and Polarizer, 77mm diameter (and a kit of adapter rings to fit any of my lenses).

Feedback

When you are doing an external photo shoot and the sun is still high, I mean, the light is very harsh, look for shady places where there is a softer light. Regarding the direction of the model, let yourself be inspired by the location. As I mentioned before, if that water spout wasn't there, most likely I wouldn't have asked the model to pose like she did in the photo.
