Behind The Lens

Location

Port Macquarie in New South Wales, 4 hours north of Sydney Australia.

Time

In Australia the Covid 19 experience has been a little different to other parts of the world. It has been a lot more stricter here then other countries. We had a total shut down of the country for a few months. We could not travel interstate, only within your own state. I took the opportunity to take my camera and of on an adventure I went to coastal towns within the state of New South Wales, Australia. This was taken around lunch time at a beach in Port Macquarie as I stopped for a break, when a herd of camels walked by. It was such a wonderful surprise that I quickly pulled my camera out and had some fun.

Lighting

The day was very overcast with not much light contrast. It was a very grey sky with little shadow or colour. I was lucky to have my lens filter with me which I played around with and found a contrast setting which allowed for better lighting and colour..

Equipment

I was using my Canon 5D Mark iv and the Hoya variable Density filter. Canon 24-70mm 1:2.8 USM lens. Hand held.

Inspiration

I was fantasizing that I was on an exotic beach in the middle east when all of a sudden camels with people appeared!!!

Editing

I did have to work a little on the colour and white balance in post-processing. I am still a bit of a amateur with post-processing. Practice makes perfect. Isn't that the saying!!!

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mark iv and the Hoya variable Density filter. Canon 24-70mm 1:2.8 USM lens. Plus my Canon zoom 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 EF lens.

Feedback

Having fun and experimenting whilst you take your photos will produce various photographs. I am still mastering my photo skills and try not to be serious about my work. As I am still learning every day I use my camera. I am a big believer that when you love what you do and the mistakes you make will eventually help you become a master of photography and film. I just practice, practice, read and learn from offer professionals that create learning materials online and on Instagram. To me its about fun!
