Location
This photo was taken by a nature trail in Ottawa, Canada.Time
It was a January afternoon, after winter stream flood.Lighting
It was taken in day light.I tried to orient my lens to avoid the background which was well lit with sunlight. At the same time the background helped in illuminating the ice structures.Equipment
Samsung Galaxy S20 phone camera in manual mode.Inspiration
The ice structures are remnants winter thawing and recrystallization. In peak winter the snow (marked by the top of the ice structures) was frozen ice. intermediate warm periods (day time followed by cooling night) melted the circular patches of snow hanging on to the tree and produced the tooth like ice. This was the first time I saw them on the land and in a swarm. I was lost there for an hour appreciating the wonder and beauty of nature!Editing
Black white conversion on Photoshop. In my camera bag
A Nikon D850 Camera, polariser, uv filter. A lint free clothFeedback
There are many cool features you will find in Nature if you look closely. You get ideas for capturing the moment when you get absorbed in them-try to appreciate and explore how you can bring them out in your capture. Be patient, careful (as these areas are often in accessible and slippery). Also respect Nature.
