Location
This photo was taken alongside the Rhymney River, which is a five-minute walk from my house. These tiny little mushrooms were growing up high on a tree that was moist and a little battered. The size of these mushrooms must have been the size of a tic-tac, perhaps a lot smaller than that if I'm being honest.Time
The photograph was taken at 1:14 in the afternoon. It was raining fairly lightly but the canopy of the trees stopped most of the rain from getting my equipment wet.Lighting
It was a dull day when this picture was taken as it was raining lightly and I was positioned under a tree canopy, but the picture was also taken at 1 in the afternoon, so it wasn't super dark and gloomy whatsoever. I just had to adjust my ISO, turning it up to 800 in order to capture this picture.Equipment
The equipment I used to capture this photograph was a Nikon D5600, which is my main camera. I used a basic lens that came with the camera body which was the AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR. • 1/80 sec • f/5.6 • ISO: 800 • No flash & no tripodInspiration
I love macro photography, specifically, I love sharing the detail of the everyday ordinary; something that we may not notice, or notice but not bother taking a closer look at. As these mushrooms were really tiny, I wanted to try and capture the details of them as well as I possibly could. I'm an amateur macro photographer, but I was really impressed with the quality and details that I captured in this photograph and I knew others would appreciate the details from these beautiful little fungi.Editing
The only thing I did to the photograph was crop it in a little, making the mushrooms the center of the photograph and sharpening the photograph ever so slightly. In my camera bag
When I took this photograph the only thing I had on me was the AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR, which is the basic lens that came with my Nikon D5600. Since then, I have bought a macro lens, zoom lens, and prime lens which I take with me whenever I go out on shoots.Feedback
Don't be afraid to point and shoot at anything you find interesting when you're starting out in macro photography. It takes a lot of time and practice to get the perfect shot. Practice is king!
