Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during my family trip to Leh Ladakh, India. We keep learning new things while doing nature photography.

Time

During my trip to Leh Ladakh, we went to various places to visit. During a car ride I noticed that the color of the mountains and hills are different from one and other. During the afternoon time around 3pm I saw this scenery that shows the different color of the hills and the landscape all together, along with the trees and field.

Lighting

Being the afternoon time and the location being in the mountain ranges, the sky was particularly cloudy, but the sun was also shining brightly. This gave a rare opportunity to me to play around with the settings of the camera, including the white balance and f-number, before I captured this photo.

Equipment

I only used my Canon EOS 550D along with a basic lens of 18-55mm, during my car ride.

Inspiration

I have learned photography while shooting nature photographs and various landscapes during my travels. This location was very different from my previous trips as the color of the each hill was different and that the location gave a very unique experience as a photographer to learn how to capture the different color while in a moving car.

Editing

Landscape photography requires our attention to the smallest details and ensure that we get the photo of our liking. I also paid close attention to the smallest detail in the photo and adjusted the light, shadows and the temperature of the photo along with the sharpness of the photo. Using the Luminar 4 software I added a bit of structure to the photographs and ensured that the photo was clear and the color difference of the hills was visible.

In my camera bag

My camera bag always has my Canon EOS 55D along with the basic lens of 18-55mm that came along with the camera. Along with that i also carry an 70-300mm Tamron lens for close up portraits or to capture far away landscapes. I also carry two Simpex 621RX flashes along with rechargeable batteries and a camera cleaner kit. We all must clean our camera and lens before any shoot and keep our equipment ready for any shoot.

Feedback

My advice for others is simple, one must experiment with the camera and learn about the settings needed for different location and weather. This will help us in future to make instant changes in the setting of the camera to ensure we get the best possible photo when required.
