Wonderful.
You have given 2020 a positive swing that is really (nice) positive, a contribution to the Year 2020 Collection. As always, the competition will be tough, which, as an added consequence, makes the victory taste very sweet. Good luck and probably for the … time: Happy New Year and stay healthy in 2021!

On my way home I stopped at Lake Tekapo this church was built as a memorial to the pioneers of the Mackenzie region, NZ the Church has been home to thousands of weddings and has seen more than its fair share of visitors to its grounds. The foundation stone was laid by HRH the Duke of Gloucester, on January 15 1935. The builders of the Church were instructed that the site was to be left undisturbed and that even the matagouri bushes surrounding the building were to remain.Time
I had started my trip home very early morning I was hoping to catch some lovely early morning light but unfortunately it was extremely windy and very cold the Lupins had just started to flower as it’s was early spring but very much felt like winter.Lighting
The light was dreadful and it was quite a challenge to get any sort of shot.Equipment
I have an Olympus EM5 mark 2 and I used my favorite Panasonic 12-35 lens no tripod as there were quite a few visitor around and with the high winds I thought it was best to hand hold.Inspiration
My intention was to capture the Lupins around the church and tussocks (native grass) the tussocks are a lovely color almost gold when the sun shines on them but not this trip unfortunately, but with clouds it added to the sceneryEditing
I always shoot in Raw and keep a eye on my exposure, with my photography I try as much as I can to make a true representation of the scene, with the low light it was quite challenging I darkened the clouds just a little to bring to out the the detail and used the clarity tool in Lightroom then adjust the exposure in foreground bringing out the colors of the Lupins and finished off with contrast and finally sharpened the image. In my camera bag
What’s in the bag absolutely every thing I have I never leave anything at home. Olympus EM5 mark 2 and my new camera Olympus Em1 mark 3. 12-35 Panasonic Olympus 40-150 Panasonic 100 -400 which I use for bird and wildlife. My new Olympus Fisheye which is quite a gem and my Olympus Macro lens, spare batters and memory cards. I has taken a quite a few years to build up my kit. Not forgettingmy 13 inch laptop for when we are away from home in the back country.Feedback
With a very famous church like this one and has been shot in every sort of light and including the night sky with the Milky Way over the church, Tekapo very well known for a dark sky. So trying to do this different is quite a challenge often is taken the front of the church have gone behind. I often google a new area to get a feel of the scene then I can work out how it can be down differently I often get down low or find a rock to stand on. when go up to Tekapo again I shall get down low I didn’t think about it this time maybe because it was so cold.
