Behind The Lens

Location

Beacon point lake Wanaka New Zealand

Time

Evening

Lighting

Low

Equipment

Olympus Em5 mark 11, 14-35 lumix lens and tripod

Inspiration

Lake Wanaka is a beautiful lake with a very famous willow, which people go in droves to see and photograph, I wanted to capture another part of the beautiful lake. I liked the colour on the sky, I think the image is very tranquil.

Editing

I shot Raw JPEG, with my landscapes I like to try and make a true representation of what I see, Working my settings and getting the exposure as right as I can in the camera, I use Light room cc in this shot I used the gradient tool and clairity to bring out the detail in the clouds.

In my camera bag

Olympus Em5 mark 11, LUMIX 14-35mm LUMIX 14mm, Olympus 40-150 plus a x2 converter, macro lens 4 Batteries and 10 32 mg cards for when we are traveling.

Feedback

Try and get to know your location, if you are traveling google can be a good guide to where you need to be . Work out how long it's going to take you to get there, I try and get to my location a good 40 minutes to set up the tripod and camera an settings, when I plan to go out I set my settings the night before , when I get to my location I set up for my composition and check my camera setting from the night before. Now all I have to think about one of the most important things for me is the exposure and I always have a tourch in my bag.
