Turtle Doves (Streptopelia turtur) have a very distinctive colouring and are easily identified by their "turr-turr" call. They are synonymous with Christmas and love yet this summer breeder is almost extinct in the UK. Pensthorpe Conversation Trust has been working with the RSPB, Conservation Grade and Natural England since 2012 on Operation Turtle Dove to reverse the declimne in their numbers. They have been listed as "vulnerable" since 2015.
