The photo was taken at a water hole in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier ParkTime

The lighting was a typical clean sunny day without clouds. Therefore the choice was to make the best of what we have, and since these animals were at the waterhole, started to play with all the possibilities - knowing that black and white option would probably makes the best pictures.Equipment
I used the Nikon D5 fitted with a 600mm lens.Inspiration
The animals were very near to my vehicle and since the 600 was fitted to the camera, I decided to see what I can get with that combination, given the harsh light. The were lots of love shown between the animals, so I could try and get more than one face fitted into the viewfinder. Shorter lenses could bring in other pictures, but to me the longer lens brought out a bit more of a uniqueness to a typical short lens photo.Editing
Post processing was to try and make the best Black and White picture that would attract some attention.In my camera bag
I love the 600mm lens as my wildlife lens, and with the vastness of the Kgalagdi Park it is on the camera permanent. Only sometimes I would swop it for the 70-200, 24-70, or even the wider angle Nikon Lens. But that will usually only happen after I did all the possible shots with the long lens and when sitting at water holes where animals may be lingering a little longer.Feedback
Some animals - like the giraffes with their patterned skins do have the possibility to make lovely Black and White pictures - even in not so beautiful light conditions.
