Behind The Lens

Location

It was at Llyn Padarn near Llanberis in North Wales, UK. We took the kids out on the lakes in kayaks and paddle boards and I couldn’t miss an opportunity to snap this stunning tree.

Time

Mid afternoon, most of the lake was empty of visitors and the rain clouds just started to move in.

Lighting

The sun had struggled to shine through all day but just before a huge rain cloud somewhere the scene there was a little break in the cloud to help light up the surrounding scenery.

Equipment

I used my iPhone X for this shot, I recently been gifted an old Sony DSLR but at the time It’s all I had to grab the shot.

Inspiration

Simple structure of a small tree against the giant mountains in the background, it incorporated my favourite places to be which is in the mountains and on the water.

Editing

This is absolutely untouched. What you see is what you get another reason why I’m incredibly proud of this shot!

In my camera bag

My phone comes everywhere for a quick snap or video (and it’s handy for the map) but now I have a Sony a330 and old star 42 tripod which was also a random gift.

Feedback

Take the time to look around and see where is best to capture everything you want to incorporate (the true beauty is not seen through the lens) wait or create the best lighting and never underestimate your creative skills.
