I've always loved the neon effect to portraits its the 80's cinema enthusiast in me, this was part of a boudoir shoot that was shot in Adelaide, south Australia.Time
I do love what i managed to achieve with this image as the lead up to the shoot day was an extremely stressful build (with 2 models pulling out on the 11th hour the make up artists daughter had to go to hospital and scrambling for a replacement last minute too). Needless to say we got there and i feel it all worked out for the better especially to be shot indoors around 2/2:30PM.Lighting
The lighting was in all honesty to mini led panels no bigger then my hand, testing what we could do with them. it was honestly a great way to prove you don't need all the expensive gear to make a photo look good.Equipment
For this photo i used a Sony a7rIII with the Zeiss Batis 85mm along with two weelite led panels. thats pretty much itInspiration
As i said earlier I'm a fan of the 80's style in cinema with full neon and opposing colors there's something about that period that compels me i think cause i feel you had more freedom of expression.Editing
Yes i do, its very generic though just tidying up any blemishes and major stray hairs then simple chromatic and lens corrections the color is completely untouched. In my camera bag
Ok this one is a tough one, I run a 2 camera system which are 2 Sony cameras (A73,A7R3) then i change between three lens sets depending on what I'm doing set one Zeiss Batis Set 18mm, 24mm, 40mm, 85mmm, 135mm. Set Two is my former Soviet Union Set MIR-47K 20mm, MIR-1B 37mm, Helios 44 / 44-2 58mm, Helios 40 85mm, Jupiter-9 85mm, Tair-11 133mm. And finally for set Three is a Combination of TTartisans & 7artisans 21mm, 50mm, 75mm. Then i usually have the 2 led panels and a three flash system so i'm never really caught out plus i use the techart autofocus adapter for some of my manual focus lenses.Feedback
Honestly the best way to learn is by doing and making mistakes don't be afraid to try hard and fail its the best way to learn and push yourself instead of playing it safe. when i see a picture that i love and would love to do my own take on i do my own take from the ground up cause we all cant afford what some of the big pros use.
