Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken from the Fox Glacier, New Zealand.Time
It was around 10am on 31 Aug 2018. Believe it or not we were on top of Fox Glacier and it was so hot that we had to remove all our winter wear. The sun reflects so much heat off the snow that I was almost sweating.Lighting
I had to adjust the ISO, exposure and the angle because the snow reflects sunlight quite a lot. And because it was handheld I had to ensure optimum exposures were taken to create a HDR image.Equipment
Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens The image was taken with f/11.0, 24mm, 1/350 & ISO 100.Inspiration
Nature did. The cloud formation with that blue sky and snow all over screamed for a naturally framed picture to be snapped.Editing
Yes in LR for touchup. In my camera bag
I keep my camera bag as simple as possible. Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 24-105mm lens + Samyang 14mm f/2 along with a Manfrotto Ball Head Tripod. Generic branch wireless remote shutter release Battery Grip and couple of spare batteries Hand warmers and a cloth to wrap them in and then wrap that cloth around the lens - cheapest way to avoid condensation :) Lens Pen Couple of absolutely dry camera tissues Headlamp with Red and White LEDsFeedback
First adore the nature. Work with the elements available and then adjust your camera settings accordingly. Don't be afraid to try different settings. Workout what your gear can do best and what it can't.
