📠Porthbeer 🌊☀ï¸Â🌊
On this, my first visit to Porthbeer Cove on the Lizard Peninsula, I was treated to an epic sunrise!
I did my research beforehand... after checking the weather and tide times, I scoured my TPE app for a beach that would face the rising sun. I found this little cove near Coverack. Next, I searched online for photos of the location to both recce and inspire.
To my surprise, I found little in the way of "fine art" photography. I guess this might be something of a photographic hidden gem! (From the car park near Coverack Harbour, walk south on the coast path for around 20 minutes).
Clean compositions weren't easy to find - especially while dodging the waves. I felt this one worked though. A fairly high vantage point of around 4 ½ foot separated the closest, barnacle covered rocks from those in the midground. The jagged Chynhalls point (which I scouted for sunrise compositions before shooting this) can be seen in the background.
I opted for a slow shutter speed of one second to capture the movement of the water.
Canon 6D MkII | 24-105mm lens at 24mm | ƒ-11 | 1 sec | ISO 100 | Tripod | 2 stop soft grad ND & 3 stop ND filters | Taken 29-11-2020 at Porthbeer
