Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken rooming the streets of Boston Harbor. I am a new photographer that enjoys to compose fragments of memories to paper, so every shoot is a blast from the past.

Time

This is probably one of my favorite images. I remember walking the North End of Boston around 5 or 6 in the evening. As the timing comes closer to nightfall, I can remember walking around In the darkened sky and looking towards the water as I hear the busy lively streets from a distant fair.

Lighting

I wanted this image to look mysterious and draw the viewer into the deeper meaning of the snowy, darkened deep despairs and the vivid livelihood of shipmates happiness and enjoyment that was being processed at that time. In interpretation, the lighting emphasized the solidarity of their beckoning calls. However, can be interpreted in any means fit.

Equipment

This was taken by a Nikon Coolpix L840 with a built in 7.5cm/ 3-in VGA Tilt LCD and a 38x Zoom NIKKOR. No other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

I was traveling to Massachusetts to visit my family and wanted to visit many of the district parts of Boston. In the upper echelon, the North End, we came across a coast guard station & found the inspiration of this image standing in front of us.

Editing

There was some occasion small edited characteristics in the photograph. I’ll leave that up to the viewer to interpret.

In my camera bag

The first thing I always pack is my Nikon Coolpix L840. It can be fairly easy to use and craft photographs of all sorts. I usually have my iPhone camera on standby, however that does not always show the best quality. I am new to the world of photography, so I do not have more complex equipment in case.

Feedback

Massachusetts has unique characteristics and enriched history. The weather changes day by day, so it can be difficult to find the right timing. However, don’t sweat the small stuff. No matter what the weather or life throughs, there can still be value acquired. What I like about photography is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.
