Location
Racine Zoo, Racine, WisconsinTime
11:30 A.M.Lighting
The shot was taken inside the habitat and through the glass enclosure. Inside lighting was bright but the little den they were in was naturally dark.Equipment
Canon 80D, handheld, no flash, 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS IIInspiration
I travel to this zoo every chance I get as it is only less than 2 hours and is quite well laid out. Being very small it is easy to see entirely in a few hours. These Foxes are visable some times and also not out so I try to capture them when I see them.Editing
A little exposure/shadow lightening to bring out the back Fox a little. In my camera bag
While walking th Zoos I usualy just carry a 100-400 lens another 24-105 and dust brush with batteries for the camera. I try not to use a flash at the Zoo but do carry a small one if needed. I tried to carry a tripod years ago but it was just too much extra gear to lug around. All shots are handheld now.Feedback
Now days with digital the best thing anyone needs to learn is to try many different exposure shots. Still hard for me, being a film shooter for some 40+ years, to remember it cost less to shoot 50 shots digital and get the right one than to shoot 1 film shot and pay to develop. " Keep shooting" .
