“The birds nest in trees, the fish swim in rivers, The Miao live on mountains”

Biasha is a village hidden in a forest, one you step in you are welcomed by a group of gunmen, in fact those Biasha Miao is the last tribe in China that can legally carry real guns.

Biasha mean “place where trees flourish”. In this authentic village, Miao still observe rituals and traditions such a worshipping spirits and never cut trees unnecessarily.

The men are strong, and a bit intimidating. They are all shaved.
Shaving is done using a machete, without any cream. Most of the hair is cut off. Only remains a clump in the middle, twisted into a bun. The last is a symbol of masculinity and power. This hairstyle has existed for thousands of years.

The women wear silver headdresses and colorful dresses.
Those dress are mainly use for performances purposes.
There are 3 folk-custom performances every day where local demonstrate their lifestyle, dance accompanied with the long pipes called “Lusheng”, wedding ceremonies and gunfire.
