Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken In Goulburn NSW, Australia, and funny enough it happened to be at a busy McDonalds car park.

Time

This photo was taken early in the morning around 7:00am. It appeared that this bird was one of a small family of birds who just knew where to get a quick breakfast!

Lighting

Being an opportunist attempt, I relied solely on my Apple iPhone quickly working out these settings to capture the best shot. I can say I was rather lucky that morning because this area does remain foggy on some days.

Equipment

I used my Apple iPhone XR with its settings on automatic, and a very steady hand! Mother Nature was kind enough to help with the lighting that day.

Inspiration

I was in my car at the time and I noticed this bird watching me to see if I had any food for it. What occurred to me was that this bird wasn’t afraid of me or my car and I was hoping to record our friendly exchange.

Editing

This photo was quite easy and required no further post-processing at all, however I did take a number of shots of this bird as it sat in different positions.

In my camera bag

Being an amateur photographer still, I am relying on my Apple iPhone XR for now, of course down the track I will start building up my toolkit with a good camera and some other equipment as I explore more into my craft.

Feedback

I would say, to simply get the shot if you can, take several shots if need be, and equally important is don’t ever worry if it’s not good enough, just take it, submit it and see what feedback you get, and learn from that, and have fun!
