It was a challenging shot to capture hiking through fresh, crunchy snow in the northern Rocky Mountains. My young son and I had to walk very carefully as every step made noise.Time
Daylight becomes quite limited this time of year in northern Canada so we had to travel out in the darkness and hike in just before sunrise.Lighting
The sun was coming up behind us, but with the fog rising into low lying cloud, it created a wonderful soft light effect.Equipment
This image was captured on the Sony A7Riii with the 200-600mm G master zoom on a monopod. My 11 year old son had the Sony A9ii with a 200-600mm G master zoom as well.Inspiration
The soft light and position of the caribou were fantastic. The image tells a create visual story of the northern caribou in their habitat. The gentle nature of these species and the harsh conditions they must survive in.Editing

Typically, I will carry a Sony A7Riii and/or A7Riv plus the A7Siii and Sony Venice and/or FX9. Thus I only require one set of lenses which are a combination of 600mm G Master prime, 400mm G Master prime, 200 - 600mm G Master zoom, 100 - 400 G Master zoom, 16 - 35mm G Master zoom, 24mm G master prime and Sigma 14mm 1.8 As well I have at least two tripods, possibly a monopod and a drone or craneFeedback
