Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Bug Sur, across from the usual tourist parking area. It was fun to take a break from everything and drive through Big Sur to find it super foggy.

Time

It was about noon when I was driving through Big Sur. There was a ton of construction and I actually waited about 30 minutes to drive through this area. As soon as I saw the fog I knew I had to pull over.

Lighting

I’m generally not a “moody” photographer but I had been wanting to capture something foggy for a long time. I always enjoy pictures of the PNW so when I drove by the bridge and saw all the fog I knew I had to get some pictures.

Equipment

I shot this with my Sony A6500 and 18-105 f4 lens.

Inspiration

I’ve seen so many moody, foggy photos of the PNW and have really been wanting to shoot something similar.

Editing

I had to do some healing on the fog for this image, as it turns out my lens was dirty and that left a few spots on my image. Other than that, just the usual lightroom edit, I usually don’t tweak anything too much from the original.

In my camera bag

My bag is always very sparse, I currently just own the A6500 and 18-105 so that’s all I shoot with.

Feedback

My advice is to just get out and explore. I wasn’t expecting to find such a foggy location because the day was actually super sunny.
