Location
I live in Roxborough Park, a foothills communty about 30 miles southwest of Denver, CO. Just to the east are miles of prairie land primarily used for cattle grazing. There are two ways out of Roxborough, a major road that is fairly well traveled and this back road, 5 miles of unpaved, graded road that I take whenever possible in hope of spotting birds or wildlife. Several years ago I began a personal project I call "Prairie Farewell" due to the start of a massive housing development that will eventually wipe out the prairie.Time
I took this shot more than 5 years ago and can't remember much about it except that it was taken in early afternoon in February on an overcast wintry day.Lighting
I had the camera on "aperture" setting, ISO 200, my usual.Equipment
I used a Nikon D100 with a 70-300 mm. zoom, hand held.Inspiration
I was struck by the straight stretch of road framed by the snow and the leaning power poles. It's a favorite of mine.Editing
I only did a bit of minor cropping and sharpening of image and color. In my camera bag
I carry a Nikon D300, one wide angle (15-35), a 50 mm prime, and a 70-300 zoom, a couple of filters, and a tripod.Feedback
This was part of a one-day-day challenge I was doing for myself. My best advice is "Keep your camera handy and your eyes open."
