I took this photo during the Asylum Steampunk Weekend in Lincoln on August Bank Holiday 2019.Time
One of my favourite and most detailed photos taken at around 11am when everyone is just starting to gather in the Castle grounds, meeting for the day's most splendiferous events to begin.Lighting
I wanted this image to focus mainly on the effort put in to create a memorable character and used the fab natural and unique lighting that you get in the Castle grounds with the layout of the Court and other amazing buildings.Equipment
I used my Google Pixel 2 XL on this occasion.Inspiration
I love the effort that has gone in to creating this look with the very definite lines used, especially in the ' face painting'. The cheek bone lines are made really prominent with clever use of the paints and everything enhances this young ladies smile enormously. You can feel her enjoyment and happiness. I also try to capture that natural look as I struggle with posed photography sometimes. Natural works better for me.Editing
I don't use any Post Photo processing and haven't done anything at all to this image, except compare it in frame as I took it. Everything is as it was when I took the photograph. In my camera bag
I normally use a Canon EOS 600D Lenses are SIGMA APO DG 70-300mm CANON EFS 18-55mm macro 0.25mFeedback
Steampunk Asylum is one of the world's largest gatherings and events of it's type and affords so many wonderfully unique opportunities for anyone who is interested in all things quirky, especially portraiture. The uphill area lends itself entirely to the Victorian/ Gothic feel of the event with its Cathedral at the heart of proceedings. Permission to take participants photos is a matter of courtesy and in so doing, the results can be awesome
