Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my side yard. Covid-19 stay at home forced me to look closer to home for photo opportunities. We have Passionflower vines all over the side yard and back yard, which have become a butterfly breeding ground!

Time

It was afternoon (almost 4 pm) when I took the picture. Tired of being cooped up in the house, I decided to walk around the yards looking for natural photo opportunities rather than staged indoor shoots.

Lighting

I used only natural sunlight, as it was afternoon. I try to always use natural light whenever possible. I don't even own a flash!

Equipment

I used my Panasonic Lumix g9 with a Lumix 30 mm macro lens, tripod, and my phone. The Lumix g9 allows me to fully operate my camera with my phone via Wi-Fi.

Inspiration

Covid-19 has severely limited my options when it comes to outdoor photo opportunities, so I decided to start looking for beauty closer to home.

Editing

Some minor post-processing was done. Mainly cropping, and raising the exposure just a tiny bit.

In my camera bag

I always have my Panasonic Lumix g9, and typically carry four lenses with me (Olympus 40-150 mm, Lumix 25 mm, Lumix 30 mm macro, and Lumix 14-42 mm), as well as my tripod, 3 ND filters, and a couple extension tubes, along with cleaning supplies.

Feedback

Patience and practice, practice, practice!
