Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Fuji Safari park in Japan.

Time

This was probably around noon on an incredibly rainy day, so the light was a bit more forgiving than usual.

Lighting

It was a dark and wet day, and I feel like the weather truly leant to the mood of the photo.

Equipment

This was a handheld shot on a canon I had actually borrowed for the day.

Inspiration

I was actually on a travel nanny trip with a family of four. This was the first day I was able to really have a camera in my hands as we were in an enclosed area. This beautiful lioness came walking up to us and looked me dead in the eyes. I knew I wanted to remember that forever.

Editing

I cleaned up this image a bit in Lightroom after the fact. Nothing too crazy, just accentuates some fur and adjusted contrast.

These days I don’t go anywhere with our my Sony a7iii and a 50mm.

Feedback

Honestly I feel like I got lucky with this shot. Just be ready to go at all times, you never know who is going to walk up to your face.
