Location
This photo was taken at Franklin Park in Columbus, Ohio as I began my morning walk on the day of summer solstice. I prefer natural light photos and make it a point to take them at the best time of day. This was a very special day. Having been displaced by the pandemic, it was nothing short of joyous to find an Airbnb right by the city's best park and this was our first (of many) morning walks.Time
It was very after 6:15am and I began my first walk to my "new back yard" AKA Franklin Park. Known for exotic trees and shrubs, among other things, it is a sight to behold all year round, but this capture happened just after 7am.Lighting
As someone who prefers natural light, I love to get up early and soak in the golden hour, before the stresses of the day begin to come.Equipment
Canon 6D with a Canon 70-200mm f2.8, shot hand held and carried by my Spider Holster aka The best purchase I've ever made!Inspiration
Dozens of acres of exotic trees and shrubs and flowers had captured my attention. Chewie was more interested in this patch of weeds, which was much taller than he. I wanted to show how big the world really is, especially if you are a 4lb dog.Editing
White balance, S curve, sharpening and light toning, along with cloning out the leash. In my camera bag
I am terrible about organizing my bags! I need one large bag but have 3 small ones. Unless I am at a wedding, I keep my camera on my Spider holster and other lens, cards, batteries and personal essentials in a small bag. Tylenol, hand sanitizer, alcohol/paper towels, mini-first-aid kit, safety pins, bobby pins, clips, press on nails and wet wipes.Feedback
Single point focus! Even the leash had blurred to almost disappear. After that, just light processing and cloning to remove the rest of the leash.
