Location
This shot is of a theatre in my hometown. This theatre had a large impact on my childhood and still to this day. This Theatre puts on and organizes shows for the local community, and I spent a summer participating in it, and met one of my best friends in the process. This photo is now also the first print that I ever made, and I was able to sell it to a shop near my house. When I see this photo, I see my childhood, my growth as a photographer, and myself as a whole.Time
This photograph was taken during the night, around 11:00 pm. I have a love for night photography and the aesthetic that it allows the artist to create.Lighting
I was fortunate enough that this theatre has its own lighting around the sign, as night photography is my favorite theme to shoot, and it tends to be somewhat difficult at times because of the lack of light. I also got lucky that the stones the theatre is made out of reflected as much light as they did. They weren't wet or glossy in the daylight, but they looked like they were come night time.Equipment
The camera I use is the Lumix G7 with a 25mm f/1.7. I got both the camera and lens off of a recommendation my college roommate made. It was a long exposure photograph, and I used a tripod to eliminate any motion blur that would have been present if I attempted to shoot it hand-held.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this photograph because of the affect this theatre had on my growing up. The theatre in the photo had a large impact on my childhood, and I met one of my best friends during my time there.Editing
For post processing, I used photoshop. I made small adjustments using Photoshop RAW before using the regular PS app on my laptop in order to boost sharpness and give the photograph a monochrome look.In my camera bag
As an amateur, my photo bag setup is just slightly underwhelming, but hopefully I can expand on it before too long. The first piece of equipment in my bag is actually a lens that I don't own. My roommate lets me borrow his 45-150mm from time to time, as I don't have any lenses that really compare. My other two lenses that go with my Lumix G7 are my 14-42mm kit lens and my 25mm. Also in my bag are several lens cleaning wipes, a shoulder strap, my SD card reader, an extra 64gb SD card, an external SSD, and a Rode Videomic. I also carry a pocket notebook and pen, a tripod and phone mount for said tripod, and a stocking cap and a pair of gloves.Feedback
I'm not an incredible photographer by any means. I firmly believe this photograph turned out as well as it did because I had such a fondness for the subject. Anybody could have taken this photo, but not everybody would. Take a photo of something that you care about and love, and you'll never be unsatisfied with what you've done.
