On the hallowed ground known as the Battle of the Little Big Horn, the US 7th Cavalry, led by LTC George Armstrong Custer suffered the loss of 268 soldiers and civilians to the combined force of Lakota, Oglala, Dakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho warriors. The battle took place between 25 and 26 June, 1876.
