Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken in the Dorob National Park, Namibia, in a serene riverbed close to Swakopmund .

Time

This was taken early morning just after the sun started showing itself above the surrounding mountains.

Lighting

My idea is to shoot as natural as possible, exactly what I see and play with shadows, moods, emotions. Hence I went early morning to make use of the softness and angle of the light

Equipment

My good old canon 5d mkiii and my trusted noble steed canon 24-105mm lens

Inspiration

I love being outdoors and getting as close to nature as possible, the many Backdrops Namibia has to offer poses as a beautiful playground where space and diversity is just a given. Adding a body into this untouched landscape working with shadows and shapes gives the image so much more Power.

Editing

I did slight color correction and pushed the highlights/lowlights, other than that it’s all natural.

In my camera bag

My standard canon 5d mkiii, 24-105mm, 85 sigma art lens, 1.4 and a 100-400mm canon 1.4

Feedback

Learn to read the light and place your subject so that it’s flattering, create shadows and depth of field by playing with different angles.
