Location
The photo was taken 2020 in Amden/ Switzerland. I came to the hotel late in the evening and saw the beautiful church shrouded in fog. After I ate something, I went outside to see if anything had changed. Then I saw the starry night and got my tripod to take a long exposure. At that point I didn't realize that the Milky Way was visible.Time
At night around 11 PMLighting
The fogg in the valley was incredible, it came from the lake in this valley. At the beginning the whole church was covered in mist, after a while the stars came out and the sky was clear.Equipment
I used to this time my Sony A6000 with tripode and remote shutter release.Inspiration
When I saw the clear night sky, I wanted to try my luck to photograph the Milky Way behind the Mayan mountain and with the church in the foreground. It was cold and cloudless and I was at an altitude of about 1800 meters, good conditions for a Milky Way photo.Editing
Of course I needed to develop the picture in Lightroom to get more exposure and clearness. Also the contrast got a little adjusted. Even if little light pollution was to be expected at this height. In my camera bag
At the moment I do use the A7 3 with different lenses, like the Sigma 100- 400mm/ F5- 6,3 or the Sony 85mm/ F1.8 for Portrait Photography.Feedback
When it comes to Milky Way or star photography, I would always recommend high altitude whenever possible. I also think it's better in cold weather because the camera's sensor noise is lower than in very warm ambient temperatures. For example, I photographed the Milky Way at the Grand Canyon and it was absolutely impressive how clear the stars were.
