Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Mathura, India.

Time

This photo has been taken around 9 PM in the evening. It was the second time when I was trying to click image of the moon through my improvised photography equipment.

Lighting

The best time to click image of the moon is when it is nearing half.It gives enough light to capture details.

Equipment

I used an improvised arrangement that included Gosky 20-60X 60mm spotting scope coupled with LG V30+ Mobile camera. I mounted this arrangement on a normal tripod.

Inspiration

I am interested in looking at birds. This made me buy a spotting scope recently and I was amazed to watch birds in such details. It further inspired me to point the spotting scope towards the moon and I was awed to see it. The next move was to fix the mobile adapter I got along with spotting scope and fiddled with ISO settings and manual focus on the scope. It took a while but finally I learnt how to adjust the focus well It certainly is a fruitful exercise.

Editing

I did not do post processing much as I could not find it adding much value to this or truly I do not know how to do it except the basic adjustment of brightness and contrast.

In my camera bag

I have my smartphone in my pocket that enables me to click photos on the go. But I would definitely like to have a high end camera with big telescopic lens.

Feedback

My advice is to have patience and try to hold your breath for five second interval to capture breathtaking details of any spacial body.
