This photo was taken during a ride along with a fellow filmmaker in the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. The bison herd there is wild. Releasing wild bison has been an effort at not only the conservation of this ancient species, but also an effort to restore the culture and significance that the Buffalo being to the people. The Buffalo have become a remnant of a time that was lost. Imagine carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. You would need shoulders big enough to blend into the mountains too.
