Behind The Lens

Location

On a nature walk along the river bank (Edmonton).

Time

It was just after 2 pm; day was hot so we tended to be as close to the trees for the shade. Found a few of the caterpillars amongst the leaves of on tree.

Lighting

The sun was out, few clouds but the direct light was muted due to the tree leaves.

Equipment

I just had my cellphone at the time. Was not expecting to actually find photographic subjects.

Inspiration

It was the contrasting bands on the caterpillar itself as well as being in its own natural environment.

Editing

Not much, just to add a bit more contrast so that it stands out more from the leaf background.

In my camera bag

Normally I carry a Canon M5 and a mini tripod.

Feedback

A good photo is a bit of luck and happenstance. Just take the shot and worry about it afterward since you rarely get certain opportunities more than once.
