Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken along a stream bed in Central Kansas. I stopped to do some exploring and found a haven of dragonflies. This one just sat still long enough for me.

Time

This is a great question! I would like to say that I know EXACTLY, but I don't. I will wager a guess at mid-late afternoon.

Lighting

The sun was starting to set and was reflecting off of a rockfaced creek bed. The water, the rocks gave perfect ambiance to this haven of beauty.

Equipment

I am a self-taught photographer. I am learning every time I am able to get out and shoot. This was taken with My Sony a7iiR

Inspiration

The inspiration behind this photo was the intense color of the dragonfly against the limestone rocks. The intense color was eye-catching and lent to a childlike feeling of trying to capture them, only this time with a camera.

Editing

Minimal post process was done. The shadows were lightened and the details sharpened.

In my camera bag

Not a lot. Just mostly extra batterand charging equipment. I am working on getting new glass, but until then, standard 18-200mm glass is what is used.

Feedback

Just go out and take time to look. Look around at the details that often go unnoticed. Dare to find silence. It is there you will begin to see things like never before!
